SIDKick pico Firmware v0.21 Update

The SIDKick pico (“SKpico”) is a direct replacement for the SID 6581/8580 sound chips used in Commodore 64 and 128 computers. In addition to replicating the SID sound, it can also emulate the SFX Sound Expander (FM). The SKpico is designed as a cost-effective alternative to other replacement options, without compromising on sound quality. The basic version consists of a simple interface board combined with a Raspberry Pi Pico (or a compatible clone). There is also a fully integrated version, slightly larger than the original SID chip, which includes the RP2040 microcontroller, flash memory, digital-to-analog converter (DAC), and operational amplifier.

This release contains the firmware for SIDKick pico.

Note: there are different .uf2-files are firmware files with PWM and/or DAC output, flashing (RGB-)LED on/off AND for hardware revision 0.1 and 0.2, and the new SIDKick pico2040DAC.

The 0.21 version includes new features such as:

  • flashing PRGs from disk drive 8 (<200 blocks)
  • timing diagnostics and adjustment
  • removing of audio bumps/ramps in PWM output
  • optional offsetting of paddle values (in case diagnostic ROMs complain)

Please read the troubleshooting section in case you experience problems.
