Windigo Productions has released The Tribe a C64 survival game, a new title built for the Commodore 64 that challenges players to lead their people through harsh conditions. The game blends historical themes with survival mechanics, creating a tense experience where every choice matters.

In The Tribe, the seasons are shifting. Winters grow longer, and snow begins to fall earlier than before. Supplies run short, and survival depends on finding new hunting grounds. Players take on the role of leader, guiding their prehistoric tribe across hostile terrain. Decisions affect whether the group thrives or suffers heavy losses.

The gameplay uses a joystick in port 2, keeping controls simple but effective. Both PAL and NTSC systems are supported, though the game was developed with PAL in mind, so NTSC users may notice small differences. The experience stays true to the Commodore 64’s roots, offering pixel art graphics and atmospheric design that fit the hardware’s character.

Windigo Productions has made the digital version and manual available for free download on their itch.io page. For collectors, a boxed edition will be released in October by Komoda & Amiga plus magazine. This edition includes printed extras, adding a physical touch for fans who appreciate traditional packaging. Alongside it, another Windigo title, Battle for Frost, will also be published.

The Tribe game highlights resource management and decision-making under pressure. Quick sessions allow players to revisit the game easily, making it suitable for both casual and dedicated C64 fans. With its mix of history, survival, and classic hardware, it delivers a focused challenge that rewards smart play.
