Thomas Christoph, widely recognized by his moniker COREi64, has shared exciting updates about two of his current projects—the TurboMaster V3 and a new external SD card mount for the CMD HD.
The TurboMaster V3 project, a long-awaited upgrade for Commodore 64 enthusiasts, is nearing completion. Christoph revealed that most components are now finalized, including the metal case bottom and the board. However, minor adjustments still need to be made to the top portion of the case. This project builds on the legacy of the TurboMaster, providing users with enhanced performance options through support for both the original R65C02P4 CPU and the newer WDC W65C02S6TPG-14. Alongside these improvements, the design accommodates various SRAM chips and introduces an upgraded MasterAdapter for seamless toggling between GEOram and REU functionalities. Christoph expects the final tweaks to be completed soon, offering Commodore 64 fans an affordable, modernized option.
In addition to the TurboMaster V3, Christoph announced the availability of resin-printed external SD card mounts for the CMD HD. These mounts, which include both a bezel and an SD card extender, allow users to integrate modern storage solutions into their retro setups. Christoph has made a limited number of these mounts available in his online shop, COREi64. He encouraged interested buyers to reach out if the item is out of stock, as he is open to producing more based on demand. To give potential buyers a better idea of the product, he shared a photo of the mount installed in an empty case, demonstrating its clean and practical design.
