In a new update from George’s Channel, a speed comparison is conducted between two floppy-drive simulators for the Commodore Plus/4: the PI1541-III, which simulates a 1541 drive, and the TCBM2SD parallel drive, which simulates the 1551 floppy drive.
To evaluate the loading speeds, a sequence of pre-rendered animation frames depicting a rotating TIE fighter is used. The frames were created using George’s self-developed 3D renderer, “3D-Engine.”
George recently purchased the PI1541-III drive and has already produced two videos about it. He describes it as a very capable device that successfully loads every software and game tested so far. However, he notes that the downside of the PI1541-III is its slower loading speed.
