AmigaKit has released a new update for the A600GS and A1200NG systems, expanding functionality through the built-in live update system. Registered AmiSphere users can now access version 46.2.1224, which introduces several improvements, most notably in AmiBrowser.
The focus of this update is clear: A600GS browser update. AmiBrowser 46.20, now in its second pre-release, introduces support for downloading files. Currently, downloads work only with drawer-based and true disks. Attempting downloads to RAM: or hardfile-based disks will fail without warning, though AmigaKit notes that support for these targets is planned for a future release.
A second key addition is a simple downloads manager window. Every file downloaded during an AmiBrowser session is listed here, with details such as full file path and current status. Users can double-click an entry to open the AmiBench window containing the downloaded file. This improvement makes file handling more direct and removes the need to manually search for downloads across multiple drawers.
Alongside the AmiBrowser improvements, the update also includes a refreshed version of UnArchiver, now at 46.6. This tool ensures that compressed files are easier to manage and unpack across the system.
The A600GS browser update highlights AmigaKit’s continued development of the platform, with each pre-release building on user feedback. By adding practical tools such as downloads support and file management, the update strengthens the system’s usability for modern tasks.
AmigaKit encourages all A600GS and A1200NG owners to install the update through the live update system. As with past updates, it is available immediately to AmiSphere users, ensuring the latest software enhancements remain just a few clicks away.
The new features mark another step forward in refining both browsing and file management capabilities on the A600GS. For users, the A600GS browser update brings a smoother experience that feels more complete, while leaving room for further refinements in upcoming releases.
