Amiga Forever 11 and C64 Forever 11 bring a major upgrade to the official emulation suites from Cloanto. Released on July 3, 2025, this new version includes enhanced support for virtual printers, touchscreen interaction, and handheld devices. For fans of both the Amiga and Commodore 8-bit systems, version 11 blends accurate preservation with updated features.
One of the biggest changes in Amiga and C64 Forever 11 is the addition of high-fidelity virtual printers. Three new models are included: EpsonQ, MPS 803, and CBM 8026. These aren’t simple text dumpers. Each provides sharp vector output, high-resolution graphics, and live previews. The result is a flexible solution for printing that goes far beyond basic emulation.
For users who prefer PostScript, there’s now support for Ghostscript. This allows Amiga PostScript output to be sent to modern non-PostScript printers, or saved as clean vector-based PDFs. It’s a strong solution for those who still use older tools like Pagestream or Professional Page on modern printers.
On the 8-bit side, the MPS 803 brings a dot matrix experience with scalable vector dots. The CBM 8026 pushes things further with support for reverse characters, PETSCII, and crisp output that mimics daisy-wheel printers without the cost or speed limitations of original hardware.
European and Japanese character sets are supported across all printers, including those used on the C128, C64, VIC-20, and VIC-1001. Even fanfold paper is emulated, complete with cut marks and perforations. As Cloanto points out, virtual devices can be shared across systems using RetroPlatform. That means your Amiga can use a C64 printer, or a PET can output to a virtual EpsonQ.
Touchscreen input is another standout feature in version 11. Swipe, pan, pinch, and multi-touch gestures are now supported. A new overlay keyboard mode makes it easier to use fullscreen setups, especially on handheld devices or gamepads. For portable users, expanded controller support includes multi-button shortcuts.
Version 11 also includes PETSCII TrueType fonts for accurate printed exports. This benefits anyone editing CBM output outside the emulator. Combined with the new printer options, the output looks clean without losing its character.
Behind the scenes, the software has been refreshed to better support the latest Windows versions, including 11 and 10 up to build 25H2. Hundreds of fixes and minor improvements round out the release.
Both Amiga Forever 11 and C64 Forever 11 are available in three editions. Amiga Forever includes Value, Plus, and Premium editions, while C64 Forever offers Free Express, Plus (download), and a Boxed Plus version. The Plus editions include ISO images for physical media creation. The Premium edition of Amiga Forever adds three bonus DVDs packed with extra video content.
Those who purchased version 10 after March 1, 2025, or who own a Lifetime Upgrades license, get version 11 for free. Prices start at $9.95 for new users.
Cloanto continues to support merging Amiga Forever and C64 Forever into a single interface, allowing users to switch systems without separate installs.
