Doug from TMARC has revamped the Amiga Art Contest, shifting from annual editions to a numbered format for greater flexibility. Initially launched in 2019, the contest grew significantly with added categories, co-hosted by Kevin Saunders in later years. However, due to personal and professional commitments, the 2023 showcase was delayed. Facing an increased workload, a major move, and family milestones, Doug struggled to find time to coordinate the event.
To resolve this, Amiga Art Contest 5 will now premiere in March 2025 as a pre-recorded event, allowing real-time community interaction. All eligible 2023 submissions will be featured, with cash prizes still in place. Future contests will follow the new format, providing artists more time to submit their work without the pressure of rigid deadlines. Updates and announcements will be shared via social media and Amiga-centric channels.
Doug remains committed to supporting Amiga-based digital art and is already planning improvements for Amiga Art Contest 6.
