Sysop Daniel Kelly, also known as “aNACHRONiST” from the Commodore Amiga aBSiNTHE BBS, has been invited to speak at Hackfest 2024. His presentation, titled “Bulletin Board Systems in the Modern Era and Beyond,” will explore the enduring relevance of bulletin board systems (BBS) in today’s digital landscape.
Once seen as a relic of the early internet era, BBSes were the original hubs of the hacking community. Far from being obsolete, they continue to thrive, offering a unique alternative to modern online platforms. With their decentralized architecture and open, diverse communities, BBSes not only represent a valuable part of digital history but also provide a model for a more resilient, community-driven future online.
