Commodore 64 Repaired Using New RAM

118

In this video, the Triple Freedom team demonstrates the repair of a Commodore 64 that was previously non-functional. They begin with a motherboard with faulty RAM chips, which were identified in a prior video. After removing the defective chips and installing new sockets, they select high-quality replacement RAM chips from their stock. Using a RAM tester, they verify the functionality of the new chips. While the tester doesn’t operate like a complete computer, it checks essential elements, including power and data lines.

Once each RAM chip passes testing, the team installs the functioning chips back onto the motherboard to check if they are powered up. If it fails to start, they’ll use an oscilloscope for further signal analysis to diagnose any remaining issues.
