Thomas Christoph, known in the Commodore community as COREi64, is making waves yet again with exciting updates on two CMD-compatible boards that are nearing their debut. Known for his precise craftsmanship and innovation, Thomas has been hard at work fine-tuning these boards to ensure they’re not only functional but also user-friendly and reliable. Let’s take a closer look at the highlights of his latest creations.

The 1750XL PLCC Edition Board

The first announcement is the revamped 1750XL PLCC edition board. With its updated design and streamlined layout, the 1750XL PLCC edition is poised to meet the demands of enthusiasts who want top-tier performance from their systems.

RAMcardXL V2 Board

Next up is the RAMcardXL V2 board. One of the standout features is the RTC (real-time clock) battery backup system, which now includes a provision for incorporating a CR2032 coin cell holder directly on the board.

For those who prefer more flexibility, the RAMcardXL V2 also includes an external battery connection. While a standard coin cell will suffice for most users, having the option to connect a larger or external battery is a thoughtful touch that showcases Thomas’s commitment to user customization.

Testing and Availability

Barring any unforeseen issues, both the 1750XL PLCC Edition and the RAMcardXL V2 are expected to be available by February. As with all COREi64 projects, Thomas is taking a transparent approach to production. Interested buyers can reserve a spot on the list without any obligation. Pricing details are yet to be finalized, and no payment will be accepted until a unit is ready and the price is mutually agreed upon.
