Mike Brixius of RavenWolf Retro Tech has shared a new update on his progress with Dark Dominion of Maldrekar, the RPG currently in development. While health setbacks slowed his video output, his focus on Dark Dominion has remained steady. This channel update highlights what’s coming next, both for the game and the channel itself.
Progress on Dark Dominion of Maldrekar
Work on Dark Dominion of Maldrekar is shaping up well, with major strides made in planning the combat system. While not yet coded, Mike has designed how the mechanics will interact with the rest of the game. By building the surrounding elements first, he can later write the combat system as a complete unit. He describes it as “like writing another whole game,” underscoring its importance to the final product.
To share more behind-the-scenes details, Mike is planning a series of short videos that highlight the tools used in development. These will feature CBM Program Studio for creating character sets and screens, before moving assets into Visual Studio Code for coding.
Channel Content and Upcoming Projects
Beyond Dark Dominion, Mike is preparing part two of his Evolution of the Commodore 64 series. He also has an Amiga video in progress, though he needs more original footage before release. Long-time viewers can look forward to a possible follow-up to his Pimping the Commodore 128 project as well.
Another exciting announcement is his upcoming visit to VCF Midwest in Chicago this September. It will be his first Vintage Computer Festival, and he hopes to capture video of rare hardware and connect with fellow enthusiasts.
Personal Update
Mike shares that a health issue delayed some content, but he is recovering. Free Patreon updates remain available for followers, with early access for subscribers.
This update shows both dedication to Dark Dominion of Maldrekar and commitment to continuing retro computing content. With new episodes, upcoming event coverage, and steady RPG progress, RavenWolf Retro Tech has a busy lineup ahead.
