The El Cartero preview delivers a quirky spin on platform gaming, one postage stamp at a time. Currently in development for the Commodore 64, this pixel-packed adventure stars a fearless mailman with more guts than his mailbag. From dodging angry dogs to ducking stone-throwing eagles and alien invaders, he’s not just delivering letters—he’s delivering chaos with a smile.
The team behind El Cartero—Adrian Marcelo Bonnette, Dirk Roosen, and Esteban Trujillo—have created 14 distinct stages filled with surprises. You’re not just walking from point A to B. You’re dancing past venomous snakes, bouncing across hazards, and hoping that Martian doesn’t zap your hat off. Scattered along the way are candies—sweet little bonuses that boost your score and probably your dentist’s bill.
The game runs on C64 Game Maker, and while the music and a few sound effects are still on the way, the gameplay is already sharp. It’s fast, fun, and frantic in the best ways. Think of it like Paperboy met Pitfall, had a postcard-perfect vacation, and came back slightly weirded out—in a good way.
Scheduled for release in 2025, El Cartero will also get a physical release courtesy of K&A Plus. You can already pre-order the cassette version here, so grab it before the Martians do.
