COVER FEATURE: A PIG QUEST
We check out one of the best C64 platformers of recent times, A PIG QUEST. It’s a stunning game that deserves a lot of love… and so we’re happy to oblige with our FREEZE-O-MATIC look and play. There’s so much to check out and a whole-host of delicious screenshots to share.

THE MAKING OF: A PIG QUEST
And, if our cover feature wasn’t enough, we thought we’d also chat with the lovely Tony Savona, who is the talented programmer of A Pig Quest, and we find out how the game came to be and discuss its rigorous development.

SECRET SQUIRREL INVESTIGATES
Our furry rodent is back with some sizzling secrets hidden within A Pig Quest. You may not have spotted them, and so rest assured that Secret Squirrel will reveal all.

DEVELOPERS’ DEN: ANDY BILLYARD
During the 40+ years of the Commodore 64’s vibrant lifetime, we’ve all experienced many a Marmite game: a game that you either love or you hate, and a few that have been the cause of many heated arguments… We’re going to focus on one of those games, and also its programmer… let me introduce you to ELEKTRAGLIDE, a 3D style racing game that was published by English Software, and programmed by our veteran interviewee for this issue, Adam Billyard. Adam kindly chats with us about his route into the C64 software market, and the making of his 1986 release.

JULIAN RIGNALL’S CCRAPBACK!
We start Julian Rignall’s new CCRAPBACK column where he regularly looks back on the worst games that he reviewed during his time at ZZAP!64 magazine. This issue includes such down-and-outs as: Mamma Llama, Buck Rogers, Master of the Lamps, Web Dimension and Shades.

A DEMO THAT TAKES IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL
Throughout my time producing FREEZE64, I have always avoided featuring Commodore 64 demos from The Scene. It’s not that I hate them; in fact, I LOVE THEM! It’s just that I always wanted FREEZE64 to predominately be a games/cheat zine. Fair enough, right? But I saw a recent C64 demo that not only blew me away, but also had me sharing videos of it on Twitter and YouTube. So, why am I dedicating 2 pages of my ‘game/cheat zine’ to a C64 demo? You’ll find out, as we take an enthusiastic look at the amazing NEXT LEVEL from Performers, which is a demo that was released during the first weekend of June at the X’2023 demo-scene meet-up in The Netherlands.

OUT OF THE ‘MOULDY CUPBOARD’
Superior Software’s 1984 release, MR. WIZ, gets extracted and loaded. And I’m sure you’ll be surprised to see that it’s actually a Mr. Do clone! But is it any good? You’re about to find out…

DIARY OF A GAME – TRAN BY STEVE COLLINS
THE FINALE! Steve Collins wraps up the development of TRAN and completes his final diary entry for his unreleased arcade shoot-em-up style game. It’s a lovely ending to what has been an interesting, enlightening, and informative C64 game development feature. I think it’s drinks all round!

A beautifully printed A5 Commodore 64 fanzine delivered straight to your front door.
