COVER FEATURE: SPY vs SPY
Many of you will have grown up with the MAD franchise, and I’m sure that, like me, you’ll have great memories of the fabulous magazine/comic featuring Spy vs Spy, and the trilogy of games that appeared on our beloved C64. We relive some of those memories and find out if the games from First Star Software still hold up to today’s gaming standards.

JULIAN RIGNALL’S CCRAPBACK!
Our Julian looks back at some of the more obscure, weird, and outright terrible old Commodore 64 games featured in issue 2 of ZZAP!64 magazine. This time round he’s loading up: Star Fire, Fire One, Estra, Glider Pilot, and Antics.

SECRET SQUIRREL INVESTIGATES
Our clever little rodent opens a few more interesting case files, which include: the Rodland demo from CF, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Ubik’s Music.

THE DEVELOPERS’ DEN: MIKE RIEDEL
Mike Riedel takes to the interview seat for this issue and discusses his time working for First Star Software to produce the first two fabulous and entertaining Spy vs Spy games. It’s an enjoyable and interesting read.

WE DON’T DO REVIEWS!
There are times when you’ll play a new game and think, “Hmmm… I’ve seen this somewhere before!” In the case of Ooze: The Escape, you’re either thinking of the 1992 Codemasters’ game, STEG THE SLUG by Nick Taylor (see FREEZE64 issue 15), or you may have played the original version of Ooze, which was released on the ZX Spectrum… Either way, in this issue’s WE DON’T DO REVIEWS, we check out the Commodore 64 version of this gorgeous platform adventure and find out if it’s worth a play or two.

OUT OF THE ‘MOULDY CUPBOARD’
Savage Pond programmed by Gwyll Jones and published in 1984 by Starcade is another quirky and lesser-known game that we have prised from The Mouldy Cupboard and placed into our datasette. We find out if it’s a worthy game that stays in the warm and bright daylight, or will it be banished back into the deepest, darkest depths of our infamous Mouldy Cupboard?

NEW & EXCLUSIVE POKES ‘N’ CODES
Once you have read our review for Ooze, you’ll want to actually play the game yourself! But hold on a sec… what if you’re struggling to play through it, and you’re looking for a bit of assistance? Well – you know me… I’m here to help… and cheat with infinite lives, invincibility, walk through walls, the game ending, and I’ll also reveal where the secret room is hidden. Sorted!
