Introducing GUI64 – Is This The Next GUI for the Commodore 64?

901

GUI64 is an innovative graphical user interface (GUI) for the Commodore 64, currently being developed by WebFritzi. Unlike existing solutions such as GEOS and C64OS, GUI64 will be built using the C64’s kernal functions, distinguishing it as a true GUI rather than a new operating system.

WebFritzi aims to complete the project by the end of 2024. Upon release, he plans to make the source code publicly available, along with thorough documentation to encourage other developers to contribute and enhance the platform.

Additionally, WebFritzi intends to release a .CRT file, allowing GUI64 to be launched directly from a cartridge at startup, providing users with easy access to the interface.

Check out WebFritzi’s YouTube channel for more videos on the different features being developed for GUI64.
