Luca Carminati, also known as LC Games, has launched a new Commodore 64 title: Mike Mech 2. Designed to run smoothly on both PAL and NTSC systems, this game takes players aboard a cargo spaceship overrun by alien intruders.
Mike, the ship’s mechanic, must navigate four separate cargo holds, activating all levers inside to regain control. With no weapons at his disposal, survival depends entirely on agility and strategy. Players can move between platforms, use ladders, and ride elevators—some of which travel both vertically and horizontally. Certain rooms also contain teleporters, adding an extra layer of challenge and opportunity.
Enemies aren’t the only hazard. Cooling fans scattered throughout the ship can be just as deadly. Locked doors also block the way, requiring the collection of electronic keys to progress. To help with navigation, terminals in most rooms display a map of the ship, highlighting areas where levers still need to be activated.
While dodging threats, players can collect crystals to increase their score, with each consecutive crystal yielding more points. Every 5,000 points—and then every additional 15,000—grants an extra life.
Once all the levers in a cargo hold are activated, Mike must escape before a microwave beam sweeps through, eliminating the alien menace. Survive, and it’s on to the next section of the ship.
For those looking to sharpen their skills, a practice mode allows players to explore a single cargo hold for up to 10 minutes.
Mike Mech 2 is available under a “Name Your Own Price” model, with a suggested contribution of $3.00. Supporters can pay what they believe the game is worth while enjoying another solid C64 experience from LC Games.
