Psytronik Software has announced Musketeer, an exciting new Musketeer C64 adventure from Ola Zandelin and Dennis Gustafsson. Set in 17th-century France, this side-scrolling action game blends the charm of Bruce Lee, the exploration of Zorro, and the co-op spirit of The Goonies. Designed exclusively for the Commodore 64, it promises a thrilling arcade experience built with love and pixel-perfect precision.

In Musketeer, players take on the role of the last loyal musketeer on a daring mission to save Queen Anne. Cardinal Richelieu has stolen her precious diamond studs in a treacherous plot to force her obedience. The remaining musketeers have been captured, and the gems hidden beneath Paris. It’s now up to one brave swordsman to rescue his comrades, recover the diamonds, and confront the cardinal himself.

This Musketeer C64 adventure is packed with features fans will appreciate. Swordfights are fast and fluid. Platforming is precise. Each screen is packed with clever puzzles, interactive environments, and artistic detail. From catacombs to palace courtyards, the world of Musketeer feels both historically inspired and playfully crafted.

The visual presentation is equally impressive. Dennis Gustafsson’s hand-painted inlay artwork captures the game’s swashbuckling spirit. Meanwhile, Ola Zandelin’s coding brings smooth animation, tight controls, and vibrant audio to life. Players can expect a truly polished experience, thanks also to tape mastering by Richard Bayliss and cartridge support from Mike Robertson.

More than just a retro throwback, Musketeer is a love letter to the golden age of Commodore 64 gaming. It’s an adventure full of daring, puzzles, and the kind of sword-swinging fun that defined a generation of games.

Coming soon for £39.99, this boxed release from Psytronik includes premium packaging designed by Jason “Kenz” Mackenzie. Fans of retro action titles won’t want to miss it.
