Pimiga 5 Tested on Raspberry Pi 500 Plus

Chris Edwards returns with a fresh update on Pimiga 5 compatibility, this time running on the new Raspberry Pi 500 Plus with 16 GB of RAM. Thanks to viewer Mr. Scott, who provided the unit, Chris sets out to see if this model can handle Pimiga 5 without any issues.

Right from the start, Chris admits this isn’t a full review. It’s a quick test filmed between repair jobs and meetings. The Raspberry Pi 500 Plus includes a new CPU stepping mode, known as “D0,” which needs a special DTB file in the boot partition. The real question is whether Pimiga 5 will still run correctly across all Pi models after this fix.

Next, Chris lines up several systems: the Pi 4, Pi 400, Pi 5, and the 500 Plus. Using a 128 GB Samsung microSD card, he confirms that Pimiga 5 boots cleanly on both the Pi 500 and 500 Plus. The keyboard feels solid, the audio works, and even the classic Amiga demo “State of the Art” runs perfectly.

After that, the Pimiga 5 compatibility test continues with performance checks. The Pi 500 Plus runs smoothly at 2.4 GHz, scoring strong benchmark results. Chris then moves the same card into a Pi 400, proving that Pimiga 5 runs just as well there too. Each configuration passes, confirming that Pimiga 5 remains fully functional across multiple Raspberry Pi systems.

Before wrapping up, Chris thanks his supporters for helping with the project. He also reminds viewers about the Pimiga 5 boot screen and backdrop art contest, which includes a Raspberry Pi 500 prize. This fast-paced and practical video highlights how flexible Pimiga 5 remains while offering a quick look at its growing potential.
