Presenting the Modular Commodore Case by Sharp Ninja

306

The Modular Commodore Case by Sharp Ninja is meticulously crafted to accommodate a range of Commodore 8-bit computers, including:

  • Commodore VIC-20/VC-20
  • Commodore 64 (Breadbin)
  • Commodore 64C
  • Commodore 16

Design and Components

The case comprises a base shell, a removable motherboard tray, and a plain cover. It’s designed for seamless printing on any FDM printer with a bed size of at least 225mm x 225mm. Keyed sections in the base ensure precise alignment, secured with 12mm M2.5 bolts and nuts. Grooves near the top allow the cover to be fastened using tension tabs.

Motherboard Tray

The tray is divided into two sections, each secured to the motherboard with three M4 bolts using standard screw holes. The current 3MF file includes a tray that fits the C64 Rev A breadbin motherboard perfectly. A tray for the VIC-20 is under development, and a tray for the C16 will be created once the hardware is available. The tray features a notched slot that aligns with the base to expose a hole for the seventh mounting point of the C64 Rev A motherboard, ensuring a secure lock of the motherboard and tray to the base. Additionally, the tray has a removable notch to accommodate the C64 keyboard cable.

Plain Cover

The plain cover is evenly split and fits snugly to the base, covering the gap above the motherboard tray. Future versions will include a built-in Gridfinity base (4×4) and options for mounting active cooling inside the cover.

For those with printers capable of 410mm in either the X or Y axis, the base and cover can be combined in your slicer and printed as a single part.
