Chris Edwards Restoration recently took on an Amiga 3000 in need of some serious attention. The system had worked the last time it was powered on, but years of sitting idle had allowed an old battery to leak, causing damage to the video and audio circuits. Some of the chips had also suffered, and a faulty DIP RAM chip was added to the list of issues.
Despite the challenges, Chris dove into the repair with determination, armed with a generous supply of chocolates and sweets from James and Jonathan. Their support didn’t stop there—Jonathan also provided PAL unit crystals, a much-needed component that’s hard to source locally.
With the right tools and expertise, Chris tackled the damaged areas, carefully cleaning up battery corrosion and repairing the affected circuits. Replacing the faulty RAM chip and addressing the wiring problems brought the Amiga 3000 one step closer to full functionality.
