Retro Debugger V0.64.72 has landed, making its debut at BCC Party #19, and it’s here to offer a real-time look under the hood of classic 8-bit machines. Developed by Slajerek of Samar Productions, this versatile tool is designed for tinkering with Commodore 64, Atari XL/XE, and NES code and memory—perfect for both retro coding enthusiasts and curious explorers.
This isn’t your typical ready-to-go product—it’s still in beta, so expect some rough edges. But that’s part of the charm! If you’re firing it up for the first time and want to dive into Atari or Commodore systems, you’ll need to provide your own ROMs. Don’t worry—it’s a simple setup found in the Settings menu.
Under the hood, Retro Debugger runs using embedded emulator engines from some of the best in the retro scene:
