Commodore4Ever has officially launched RetroLink, a new WiFi modem built specifically for Commodore computers, with a focus on the C64. RetroLink plugs directly into the user port and connects vintage systems to modern internet services — all without hardware modifications or complicated setup steps.

This release marks the first production run of the device. Early buyers will have access to upcoming feature expansions and firmware updates as development continues.

What RetroLink Offers

RetroLink supports standard AT command sets, making it compatible with popular terminal programs like CCGMS, Novaterm, and Striketerm. It operates at stable baud rates of 1200, 2400, and 4800, striking a balance between performance and reliability.

All configuration happens directly on the Commodore itself — there’s no need for external software or tools. Settings are stored in onboard EEPROM, so configuration stays intact even after rebooting.

Menus and interfaces use PETSCII graphics, keeping the retro aesthetic intact while improving usability.

The modem adds more than just network access. It includes built-in support for secure email via Gmail (using app passwords), an instant messaging system with user registration, and even an AI assistant named GroK-8bit, designed to display PETSCII-friendly responses.

An OLED dual-screen setup provides real-time status and connection feedback right on the device.
