In the newest episode from The 8-Bit Manshed, a broken Commodore 1085S Monitor gets an epic repair. Restoring vintage hardware is equal parts craft, science, and patience. A classic piece of tech, this monitor found its way to the workbench as part of a lot of six acquired in France in June 2024. This particular unit, however, was in a state that would make even the bravest techs question their resolve.
The damage was evident: cracks both inside and outside, with the chassis itself suffering from at least six severe fractures. Before any real work could begin, the extent of the damage had to be carefully evaluated. The tube was miraculously intact, offering a glimmer of hope.
