Reviving the Commodore 64: Installing a Modern VIC Chip Replacement

287

In their latest video, Triple Freedom began an exciting task: installing a new VIC chip replacement for the Commodore 64. The original VIC chips, whether plastic or ceramic, are prone to failure over time, making this modern, compact replacement an excellent solution. Their goal was to install the hardware and test it thoroughly.

Before proceeding, they verified the correct orientation for the new VIC-II Kawari replacement by examining its underside to ensure proper installation. With the chip securely placed in the socket, they reassembled the case, ensuring everything fit snugly, and prepared to test the system.
