In a heartfelt video announcement, Stefany Allaire discusses the F256x asset sale and explains why now was the right time to make a major shift. For followers on Discord, this update may not have been unexpected, but for others, it marks a turning point for both her work and the Foenix ecosystem. She speaks openly about the financial and creative challenges that led to this decision and the new directions now taking shape.
A Shift in Focus
Allaire reflects on how she saw the retro-computing scene evolve since early 2025. For her, building “fantasy computers” like the Foenix F256 series was about more than nostalgia, it was about rediscovering the hands-on learning spirit of classic computing. Yet, running multiple hardware lines as a solo developer proved unsustainable. Balancing design, manufacturing, and community support stretched her to the limit. The F256x asset sale presented a chance to hand the project to someone who could nurture it further while she refocused her efforts.
The Deal and the Transition
In October, Allaire finalized a deal with Alexi Gervoy, who now owns the F256 intellectual property through his new company, Wildbits Computing Company. The agreement includes a three-month technical support window where Allaire will guide him through the transition. Once complete, Wildbits will fully manage the F256 product line and community resources.
Meanwhile, Allaire is rebranding Foenix Retro Systems as Foenix Labs, which will focus on her larger hardware projects and upcoming 68k and RISC-based systems. This rebrand reflects her move away from smaller fantasy systems and into more advanced computing designs.
A New Home for the Community
As part of the transition, the Foenix Retro Systems Discord server has been officially handed over to Wildbits and will soon be renamed to match its new ownership. To continue connecting with her directly, Allaire has launched a new Discord for Foenix Labs, where development updates and discussions around the larger systems will take place.

Allaire stresses that this isn’t an ending, it’s a reorganization meant to help both projects grow. Wildbits will continue advancing the F256 family, while Foenix Labs becomes the hub for her future hardware ambitions.
Why It Matters
This F256x asset sale and rebrand signal an evolution for both creator and community. It demonstrates how passion projects can adapt to changing times while ensuring continuity for users. The Foenix brand lives on in two directions: Wildbits continues the 8-bit and 16-bit legacy, and Foenix Labs focuses on new frontiers in retro-inspired hardware.
The announcement video provides more insight into timelines, remaining inventory, and her upcoming goals through early 2026. For those interested in where retro innovation meets personal reinvention, this update is a must-watch.
