In a direct and personal video update, Stefany Allaire talks about the F256x asset sale and why the change became necessary. Many in her Discord community saw signs of it coming, but others may find the news unexpected. She explains the strain of managing several hardware lines alone and why the time felt right to move in a new direction.
A Shift in Focus
Allaire describes how she sensed changes in the retro-computing scene during 2025. Building and supporting the Foenix F256 line demanded more time than she could give. She loved the idea of creating machines that encouraged learning and experimentation, but the workload kept growing. Sales came in waves, bills never waited and she found herself pulled in too many directions. The F256x asset sale offered a way to keep the project alive while giving her room to breathe.
The Deal and the Transition
In October, she reached an agreement with Aleksey Gurtovoy. His company, Wildbits Computing Company, now owns the F256 IP. She will help him during a three-month transition so he can take full control of production and support. After that, Wildbits will run the F256 family on its own path.
Allaire is also reshaping her own work. Foenix Retro Systems is now Foenix Labs, a name that reflects her focus on larger systems. These include the 68k and RISC-based projects she wants to develop without the weight of several small product lines holding her back.
A New Home for the Community
The former Foenix Retro Systems Discord server is now in Wildbits’ hands. It will be renamed soon to match its new direction. To keep in touch with her audience, Allaire created a new Discord for Foenix Labs. This is where she will share updates about the bigger machines and future plans.

She emphasizes that the change is not abandonment. She sees it as a healthier way for both projects to grow. Wildbits gains the energy and bandwidth to push the F256 line forward. Foenix Labs becomes the space where she can build something new without carrying old weight.
Why It Matters
This F256x asset sale marks a fresh start for everyone involved. The F256 line moves to a team with the capacity to expand it. Allaire regains the freedom to work on advanced systems that excite her. The community gets two strong paths instead of one strained creator juggling everything at once.
Her announcement video goes deeper into timelines, remaining hardware and her upcoming goals. It is well worth watching if you follow retro-computing projects or want to see how creators adapt when a passion grows into something larger than one person can carry.
