Shadows of Sergoth Revival

Double Sided Games has released Shadows of Sergoth for the Commodore Amiga. This dungeon crawler first appeared on the Amstrad CPC. The new Amiga version drops players into Chrisandia, a medieval fantasy kingdom filled with dark dungeons and hidden lore. Here, adventurers explore winding catacombs, learn spells, and fight to survive. Shadows of Sergoth mixes retro graphics with smart design choices to create a fresh RPG experience.

Chrisandia lies on the southern edge of the Marak peninsula. It thrives as a fishery and a center of trade. The story begins five years after Emperor Sul Rakin’s fall. During this time, King Orlof VI rules after decades of war. Each dungeon level uncovers more of the kingdom’s history and the threats hidden beneath its surface.

Character creation is flexible. Players choose from five races: human, elf, dwarf, half-orc, and human-lizard. Each race offers unique strengths and play styles. Characters can advance to level 20, unlocking powerful spells and abilities. Players can adjust their strategies to match the dungeon’s many challenges. The mechanics borrow from Microlite20, a simplified take on Advanced Dungeons & Dragons. This approach makes combat easier to grasp while keeping the game strategic.

Exploration plays a central role. The auto-map system helps players track their progress through complex dungeons. A save feature allows quick returns to action without repeating cleared sections. The Amiga version adds level editing tools with scripting. Fans can create their own dungeons and share new adventures with the community.

The presentation stays faithful to its origins. Pixel art and dungeon visuals reflect early 1990s RPGs. Movement feels smoother, and the installer makes setup easy on Amiga hardware. These refinements create a better play experience while preserving the retro look.

Physical editions from Double Sided Games are now rare. However, digital copies remain available. Community-made mods and custom maps expand the game even further. For Amiga fans and RPG enthusiasts, Shadows of Sergoth is more than a throwback. It offers challenge, story, and exploration in one carefully built adventure. The lure of deep dungeons and dark secrets keeps players returning to Chrisandia’s shadows.
