Tantooman Maze Challenge Arrives on C64

The Tantooman maze challenge has officially landed on the Commodore 64, courtesy of delta-machine—and it’s far from your typical paint job. Before our square-helmeted hero can enjoy his well-earned vacation, he’s tasked with painting every inch of an ever-expanding maze. But he’s not alone—time is ticking, and enemies lurk with every twist and turn.

Inspired by the Android title Tomb of the Mask: Color, Tantooman maze challenge brings frantic, color-based gameplay into the world of 8-bit computing. What begins as a leisurely stroll through basic mazes quickly escalates into a fast-paced struggle for survival. Later levels grow increasingly complex, demanding quick reflexes, strategy, and persistence.

The game is compatible with a wide variety of hardware, from real C64s using 1541Ultimate II and SD2IEC devices to modern replicas like the Ultimate 64 and THEC64 mini. You can also play via VICE emulator on Windows, macOS, or Linux. It’s a PAL-only title, so NTSC systems will need to sit this one out or emulate accordingly.

Tantooman maze challenge is available now as a free download, with a suggested price of €2.50 via delta-machine’s itch.io page. The game supports save/load features, making it perfect for long sessions—or quick dashes in between real-life maze escapes.

Whether you’re playing on a breadbin classic or a cutting-edge Ultimate 64, this colorful, fast-paced challenge is a standout in today’s growing library of homebrew C64 releases.
