After a bit of a wait—thanks for hanging in there—we’ve finally brought the Oasis BBS revival back online, running on the exact same dual Lt Kernal hard drive system we used 30 years ago. It’s surreal hearing those platters spin again. Between the two Lt Kernal units, we’ve got 160 megabytes of storage, which back in the day felt absolutely massive—and honestly, it still kind of does.
You might notice some changes already. Desert-Fox has started tweaking and updating things, but there’s still more to do. For instance, the games haven’t been reinstalled yet. If there’s a favorite you want to see brought back, let me know! Drop a note on the BBS—feedback is always welcome.
Feel free to log in, poke around, and help me shake things down. Try out the multi-file transfers, leave a message, and see what’s working (or what’s not). We want to make sure the system is solid, but there’s no better way to test it than by having real users jump in and start using it again.
Rebuilding Oasis BBS has been a bit like unearthing a time capsule. It’s part nostalgia, part stubborn curiosity—but mostly it’s about sharing that old-school BBS magic with anyone who still appreciates it. Whether you were around in the ’90s or just discovering this stuff now, you’re more than welcome to connect.
