After nearly three decades, The Settlers II is finally coming to the Amiga. Known for defining the build-up strategy genre, the original Settlers made its mark in 1993, but its critically acclaimed 1996 sequel never reached Commodore’s flagship home computer—until now. Thanks to an official license from Ubisoft Entertainment, The Settlers II Gold Edition will launch natively for the Amiga on October 18, 2025.

This is not a quick conversion. The Settlers II Amiga release has been carefully optimized to take full advantage of the platform’s hardware, offering smooth performance, detailed graphics, and all the charm that made the game a classic.

A Refined Strategy Experience

Often regarded as the highlight of the series, The Settlers II expands on everything that made the first game memorable. Players lead Roman captain Octavius, who, after a storm leaves him stranded on an unknown island, must transform a modest encampment into a thriving empire.

The game’s depth comes from its intricate economic systems, with more than 30 building types and the same number of professions. Every inhabitant plays a role—whether producing goods, transporting materials, or defending the settlement. Four playable civilizations—Romans, Asians, Nubians, and Vikings—each feature unique traits, adding variety and replay value.

Expanded Content and Features

This Amiga edition contains all original campaigns and bonus materials, including:

  • Ten Roman campaign missions and nine world campaigns
  • Over 130 bonus maps for extended play
  • Diverse environments, from volcanic landscapes to frozen terrain, plus the winter setting from The Settlers II Mission Disk
  • More than 30 professions, including six soldier classes
  • Four language options: German, English, French, and Polish
  • Integrated in-game help and an improved interface for smoother gameplay

Thousands of hand-animated characters bring the bustling settlements to life, maintaining the distinctive style that made the series stand out.

Editions for Every Amiga Enthusiast

The release offers three distinct editions:

  • Box Edition (€49.90) – Launching October 18, 2025, this classic-style box includes a DVD and download option, a full-color world atlas, German and English manuals, and four retro-style collectible postcards.
  • Collector’s Edition (€99.90) – Available from December 1, 2025, this premium wooden box is limited to 100 copies. It includes all Box Edition contents plus an exclusive metal magnet featuring the iconic castle from the first Settlers game.
  • Digital Edition (€29.90) – Also launching October 18, 2025, this download-only version offers instant access for players who prefer a quick start.

System Requirements

The The Settlers II Amiga Gold Edition will run on both classic 68k Amigas and PPC-based systems. For the 68k version, an AGA chipset Amiga with a 68040 processor at 40 MHz, 32 MB Fast RAM, and AmigaOS 3.1 is the minimum. High-resolution play benefits from faster processors such as the 68060 or PiStorm setups.

The PPC version requires at least a PPC-Amiga with AmigaOS 4.1 or 3.1 with WarpUP, running at 175 MHz, with 32 MB RAM. Higher specs improve performance and allow for resolutions above 640×480 with dedicated video hardware.

A Milestone for Amiga Gamers

For many Amiga owners, The Settlers II is more than just a game—it’s the completion of a chapter that began in the 1990s. By combining the original’s depth with optimized performance for modern Amiga setups, this release brings a genre-defining strategy title to the platform it always deserved to call home.
