Developer Davide Bottino is bringing new life to the Commodore 64 conversion of Toki, originally developed by Ocean Softeware in 1991, with an ambitious remaster featuring entirely new graphics and sound. A brand new demo of his project, Toki C64 Remastered, offers a glimpse into the exciting updates in progress.
“Over 20 months in the making, and now, just like EA Sports says, IT’S IN THE GAME!! Please note it’s just the very first test, so there are still several Toki sprites missing and alignment to fix, but I wanted to share with all of you this long-awaited success. Enjoy!”
Toki C64 Remastered is a fan-led, comprehensive reimagining of the original arcade conversion. The project aims to deliver:
- Completely redrawn sprites
- Improved and reimagined backgrounds
- New music and sound effects faithful to the arcade version
- Enhanced controls for a smoother gameplay experience
- Bug fixes
The final version will be made available as a new CRT file, free to download upon release.
