Tomb Raider Demo (2025) – Commodore Amiga Proof of Concept by BSzili

161

Ever wondered what Tomb Raider might look like running on a Commodore Amiga? Thanks to the ever-inventive BSzili, you don’t have to wonder anymore.

In early 2025, BSzili dropped a fascinating proof-of-concept demo port of Tomb Raider for the Amiga—yes, that Tomb Raider. The demo isn’t a full game (don’t go diving into pyramids just yet), and there’s no sound, no frills, and certainly no warranty—but what it is, is an impressive technical flex and a public invitation for fellow developers to get involved.

The port is based on OpenLara, the open-source Tomb Raider engine, and showcases what’s possible on this classic hardware with a bit of clever coding and lots of passion. BSzili created the demo in just a few days, which in Amiga dev time is practically warp speed.

What’s the catch? Well, he’s looking for help, specifically with the rasterizer. If you’ve got chops in that area and a love for old-school pixels, this could be your cue to jump in. He’s actively welcoming collaborators via the English Amiga Board, where you can get in touch directly.

For the curious and the brave, you can download the demo here:

So fire up that classic Amiga gear (or your favorite emulator) and take Lara for a test run—just don’t expect her to talk back yet.
