The new video from shoe’s Workbench spotlights a fresh adaptation: the Tornado v2 expansion slot installed on the Alicia 1200. This proof-of-concept offers a look at how easily current board designs can shift to the new Tornado slot. The project takes an existing board, swaps out the A1200 connector, and drops in the Tornado connector.
Fast ROM and FPU Support
During testing, the team installed two 32-megabyte ROM sticks running at 60 nanoseconds. The prototype—called Snowstorm—includes space for an FPU, showing the expansion slot’s flexibility. When powered on, the Alicia 1200 detected the ROM and the 030 processor right away. No drama, just fast results.
Compact and Versatile
The video demonstrates just how slim this system can get. The Alicia 1200’s Mini ITX form factor, paired with the Tornado v2 slot, points to some exciting new card options ahead. The ease of switching connectors means developers can move quickly to support the Tornado slot with fresh cards.
