In the latest episode of the Doglogo channel, the highly anticipated Commander X16 Developer Edition arrives in Sweden from Texas, USA, in just 12 days. With the real hardware finally in hand, game development and testing become significantly more authentic, allowing for a true retro experience.

Previously, emulators have exhibited slightly conflicting behaviors, making it challenging to achieve perfect accuracy. However, with access to the actual hardware, these discrepancies can now be identified and resolved.

The latest testing features a Sonic game currently in development, revealing some glitches that were not apparent in emulation. With hands-on access to the machine, these issues can now be properly diagnosed and fixed.

One of the key tests involves a ring moving automatically across the screen, demonstrating that the Commander X16 is capable of delivering a consistent, console-like gaming experience without dropping frames. Unlike modern computers that rely on framebuffers, the Commander X16 feeds scanlines directly to the CRT, ensuring an authentic retro display. This test proves that the system lives up to its promise of providing a genuine, old-school computing experience.
