USBSID-Pico SID Player Demo Highlights

150

The USBSID-Pico SID player is making waves in the retro audio community. In a series of videos, ManfMoser demonstrates the player’s unique abilities, showing how it delivers genuine SID chip sound to modern setups.

Streaming Deepsid with Real SID Sound

The first part of the demo in the featured video at the top of the article, focuses on playing SID files straight from the Deepsid website.  The player works as an external USB sound card, connecting to your computer and providing authentic SID chip audio. With a dedicated enclosure, it brings a clean, plug-and-play feel to any desktop setup.

Stereo SID Playback with SIDKick-Pico

Next, ManfMoser loads SID-Play64 and plays the file “Electric City.” Here, the real magic happens: the setup supports stereo playback by controlling two SIDs at once. Inside the USBSID-Pico sits a SIDKick-Pico, which can emulate two SIDs together. This results in a full stereo experience, something few other SID solutions offer.

Classic SID Tunes, Modern Control

To round out the demo, ManfMoser plays Van Halen’s “Jump” on the device. The board, created by LouD, connects to your system via USB and works with various platforms, including web players, ASID-supported apps, and MIDI controllers. It supports both real MOS SID chips and hardware SID emulators, letting users enjoy their favorite C64 tracks with genuine hardware or accurate emulation.
