Dirk Whoffmann has released vAmiga v4.1, a popular and user-friendly Amiga emulator for macOS that accurately recreates the Amiga 500, 1000, and 2000 systems. This latest update brings several important bug fixes and enhancements designed to improve user experience and stability.

Among the critical fixes, vAmiga v4.1 addresses a previously troublesome issue where overclocked CPUs could overflow the color register recorder, causing the emulator to crash. Additionally, the update corrects a HAM drawing glitch and resolves errors in the Display Data Fetch (DDF) logic that affected bitplane Direct Memory Access (DMA). Users who experienced difficulties with the ROM dropbox for extended ROMs will be pleased to know this has also been repaired.

Minor yet valuable improvements include resolving smaller workspace-related issues, enhancing the accuracy of the Complex Interface Adapter (CIA) dashboard panel, and fixing display inconsistencies within the RetroShell debugger.

In terms of enhancements, vAmiga v4.1 introduces a specialized “RGB direct” color palette, which is particularly beneficial for regression testing, ensuring more stable and accurate color representation. Additionally, the emulator now comes pre-packaged with the latest Aros ROMs, updated as recently as February 2025.

Users interested in upgrading or trying vAmiga for the first time can download the emulator directly from the official vAmiga GitHub repository.
