The ZOO 2024 All Hallows C64 Demoparty, held from November 1–3 at Oriveden Kampus in Finland, celebrated the Commodore 64 and demoscene culture with a rich blend of competitions, exhibitions, and live performances. This year’s event drew enthusiasts worldwide, who showcased creative demos and graphics crafted for the C64. Attendees had the chance to participate in coding and music compos (competitions), enjoy tracker music compositions, and witness live demonstrations of reverse-engineering and game creation techniques.
The event also featured music acts that added a unique layer of atmosphere. Notable performances included Sekret Teknik, blending 80s-inspired cyberpunk with modern synthwave, DJ Mayor, who mixed C64 SID music into his set, and Nebawanganza, a duo that performed live C64 music remakes on bass and electric cello. These acts provided a nostalgic, vibrant soundtrack to accompany the visuals and discussions throughout the weekend.
In addition to performances, ZOO 2024 offered exhibitions, retro hardware displays, and a “Party Feature” competition where participants were encouraged to create their own entries. This celebration of digital art and retro computing has become a staple in the demoscene calendar, bridging classic tech and modern creativity.
