ZX Spectrum vs. Commodore 64 – ATF Face-Off with an Audio Upgrade!

218

Triple Freedom has released a new episode this week, featuring a head-to-head comparison of two legendary 8-bit machines running the same game: ATF: Advanced Tactical Fighter. However, there’s a twist—the ZX Spectrum has been upgraded with a General Instrument AY-3-8910A sound chip, the same one used in the Amstrad CPC and MSX. This enhancement eliminates the beeper-only audio, allowing the Spectrum to produce rich, multi-channel sound, bringing its audio capabilities closer to those of the Commodore 64’s iconic SID 6581 chip. The result is an incredibly close battle where both systems truly shine!
