After a 35-year hiatus, Compute!’s Gazette magazine is making an exciting return, set to captivate retro computing enthusiasts once again. Originally cherished by Commodore 64 fans during the ’80s, the magazine is being revived by COMPUTE! Media Company, a fresh initiative based in Texas. With its comeback issue slated for July 2025, Compute!’s Gazette is preparing to reconnect with long-time followers and new audiences alike.

Edwin Nagle, President and founder of COMPUTE! Publications, leads the project, drawing inspiration from his own childhood memories of the Commodore 64 and his brother John’s gift of old Compute!’s Gazette magazines. Following his brother’s passing in 2022, Nagle revisited his Commodore 64, sparking renewed passion and an appreciation for the lively retro computing scene.

The revived magazine will not solely cater to Commodore 64 enthusiasts but instead embrace the broader retro computing community. Nagle highlights the distinct appeal of early computers, each having unique characteristics and distinct user experiences. His vision is to produce a publication that is both nostalgic and engaging, while remaining contemporary and accessible for today’s retro hobbyists.

Compute!’s Gazette plans to publish monthly in both digital and print formats, recognizing the appeal of a physical publication. Pre-orders for the collectible inaugural issue are now available on computesgazette.com, alongside subscription options including a free tier with access to select digital content.
