Buckle up, Commodore 64 fans—Invasion Anarchy is the latest action-packed shooter from the retro wizards at DESIGN Chaos, and it’s a wild ride through alien mayhem! Players take control of the last remaining fighter in humanity’s defense force, with one clear mission: stop the alien invasion before it’s game over.
Simple to play but tough to master, Invasion Anarchy drops you right into the chaos. Plug your joystick into port 2, tap fire to shoot, or hold it down to unleash a devastating smart bomb that clears all visible enemies. But be warned: every smart bomb costs 100 hard-earned points, and relying on them too much will slow your progress to the next level.
The intensity ramps up as the game goes on. The “pulse rate” (that’s alien-speak for “panic level”) gradually increases, making enemies faster and more aggressive. Rack up 500 points and you’ll level up—rewarding your reflexes with a faster firing rate, speedier movement, and a brief break in the alien tempo.
Tips for Survival in the Anarchy:
- Use smart bombs sparingly. Overuse makes it harder to level up quickly.
- Target UFOs! They’re worth more points than regular enemies, and letting them escape makes them nastier next time.
- Shoot efficiently. High accuracy earns you a proficiency bonus and maybe even a promotion—unless you’re playing on easy mode (sorry, slackers).
- Score 1500 points for an extra shield. You’ll need it.
Need to hit the reset button? Press RUN/STOP in-game for a self-destruct, or press SHIFT + CLR/HOME on the disk version to clear the high scores.
A few final notes for the purists: Invasion Anarchy is built for PAL systems, and the music really shines on a Commodore 64 with an 8580 SID chip. And yes, joystick control is definitely the way to go.
